Work was abruptly halted on the remodel of the Glenbrook Apartments, on the 500 block of Curtis Road on Friday, when a city inspector found the owners were lacking required building permits.
In September 2015 the tenants of the Glenbrook Apartments, about 400 people, were given a 30-day eviction notice. The complex was recently acquired by Eagle spouses Mark and Caran Daly, and they brought in Verity Property Management to manage the complex.
Lynn Fender, Verity vice president, told the Statesman in September that the purchase was an investment. The new owners wanted to remodel the complex into upscale apartments and bump up the rent. One-bedroom apartments would go from $575 to $900, and two-bedroom apartments from $650 to $1,000.
But, according to a city notice, the property owners failed to file the proper permits they needed to proceed on the remodel.
