UPDATE: Coroner IDs Boise man hit and killed by car
Dwayne Poulton, 31, was taken to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center, where he died about 7:15 a.m., the Ada County Coroner said late Wednesday afternoon.
The accident was reported at 6:51 a.m. Wednesday on State Street near 35th Street, just east of Veterans Memorial Parkway. Witnesses told police they saw a car headed east on State hit a man crossing the street on foot.
The driver of the car, a 45-year-old Boise man, was not hurt.
Following the accident, witnesses and the driver worked to provide first aid to the pedestrian. Medics did not declare Poulton dead on the scene. They rushed him to a hospital, but he didn’t survive.
It’s not yet clear if charges will be pressed. The crash is still under investigation.
The location where the man crossed did not have a crosswalk, and it was still dark when the crash happened, police said.
