If you're a fan of both Downtown Boise and "Modern Family," a snippet of this week's episode might have looked surprisingly familiar.

It definitely struck a chord with Brad Severe, area manager for Matador restaurants. A fan of the popular ABC comedy, Severe recorded "Modern Family" on Wednesday night and watched it after he got off work.

He replayed the fleeting footage on his DVR several times to confirm his suspicion: There, on the California-set show, was a glimpse of the Matador on Boise's North 8th Street.

"It was right at the beginning," Severe said. "It lasted 2 seconds, tops. They must have just picked up some stock footage to ... set the tone that Phil's in a coffee shop somewhere."

"It's a really cool shot of 8th Street," albeit a little out of date, he said. "If you look closely, the space to the right is Cazba ... now (that restaurant) is Juniper Kitchen and Cocktails."

To include both Matador and Cazba, he said, the footage had to be shot sometime between 2011 and 2014. "Modern Family" airs at 8 p.m. Wednesdays on KIVI-TV, Channel 6.
