Boise Chinese organization rallies in support of NYPD officer
More than 100 people marched to the Idaho Statehouse Saturday afternoon in support of New York Police Department officer Peter Liang.
The event was put together by the Idaho Chinese Organization, in conjunction with about 40 other nationwide rallies criticizing the conviction of the officer. Liang could face up to 15 years in prison for manslaughter after shooting an unarmed black man, Akai Gurley. Supporters say Liang accidentally discharged his weapon and that he’s being used as a scapegoat.
The group met in front of the Black History Museum and marched to the Idaho Capitol holding signs that said “True justice for all,” “One tragedy, two victims” and “Justice for NYPD officer Peter Liang scapegoat no more!” among other things.
