After serving as Boise police chief from 1988 to 1993, Jim Carvino went on to work as director of security for Boise heavy construction company Morrison Knudsen, according to a Boise Police Department news release.
Carvino came to Boise after serving in the New York Police Department and the Racine, Wisconsin Police Department, according to the news release. He also served as chief of the United States Capitol Police and was a special law enforcement advisor to U.S. Attorney Generals Ed Meese and Dick Thornburgh.
Carvino died Sunday at the age of 81. He is survived by his wife, Mary.
