Boise police officer cited following 4-vehicle crash

A Boise Police Department officer was cited for failing to obey required traffic control devices, for an accident involving four vehicles on Jan. 16, according to BPD.

Aaron Salvas, who has worked with BPD for 22 months, was responding to a call on the Boise Bench when he got involved in the accident, BPD spokesman Ryan Larrondo said.

Salvas slowed down before entering the intersection of Emerald Street and Cole Road around 7:30 p.m. and was struck on the passenger side by a car heading north on Cole. That pushed the police vehicle into another car and a minivan, according to BPD.

No one was seriously injured in the crash, but Salvas and a 32-year-old driver of one of the other vehicles were transported to the hospital, according to BPD.

Salvas is back on duty with BPD.

The Ada County Sheriff’s Office conducted the investigation into the crash.
