Jeff Bacon, president and co-founder of the Boise-based Wyakin Warrior Foundation, issued a statement Thursday in response to "several inquiries regarding the recent news surrounding the Wounded Warrior Project."
"To avoid confusion, we would like to remind our stakeholders, supporters, and the broader community that Wyakin Warrior Foundation has no association or working relationship with Wounded Warrior Project," Bacon said. "While we serve the same community – wounded Veterans – our programs are vastly different."
The Wounded Warrior Project was in the news this week with revelations that the national organization spends lavishly on itself. The charity has evolved into a fundraising giant, taking in more than $372 million in 2015.
