Boise man, 79, charged with felony DUI after colliding with scooter
David R. Holmes faces a charge of aggravated driving under the influence after a crash that injured a scooter driver at North 17th Street and West State Street Wednesday night, Boise police report.
Witnesses told officers an SUV heading east on State attempted to turn north onto 17th without yielding to oncoming traffic about 8:10 p.m. A scooter headed west on State crashed into the side of the SUV, police said Thursday.
The man driving the scooter was taken to an area hospital with injuries police described as serious but not life-threatening . When officers spoke to the SUV driver, identified as Holmes, they noticed alcohol on his breath and slurred speech, police said. Holmes reportedly failed field sobriety tests and was taken to the Ada County Jail.
