A one-vehicle crash on eastbound Interstate 84 near the Boise Stage Stop early Thursday resulted in drug charges for both occupants, and the driver is charged with fleeing the scene, Idaho State Police report.

Michael Nappi, 25, of Signal Hill, Calif., was driving east in a 2012 Suzuki hatchback about 4:35 a.m. when he fell asleep and the car left the roadway and overturned, according to an ISP news release. Both Nappi and his passenger, Nicholas Duchene, 25, of Anaheim, Calif., reported injuries but were booked into the Ada County Jail later that morning, ISP reports.

Nappi fled the scene of the crash and was apprehended by the Ada County Sheriff's Office for outstanding felony warrants and leaving the scene of a crash. ISP also will charge him with trafficking heroin, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of various types of prescription medicine.

Duchene was arrested on the same drug charges, ISP reports. Both men remained in the Ada County Jail Thursday evening, and the crash remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
