A Meridian woman headed south on Idaho 55 Sunday evening was struck from behind after she slowed because of the sun in her eyes, Idaho State Police report.
Carmen I. Baker, 74, let up on the gas in her 2014 Honda CRV in response to other drivers in front of her slowing near the summit of Horseshoe Bend Hill at about 5:20 p.m. She was struck from behind by a 2015 Ford F-150 pickup driven by Shelly L. Culver, 62, of Boise, ISP reports.
Culver and her passenger, Debra S. Uptmor, 58, of Caldwell were taken by air ambulance to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. Baker was taken by ambulance to Saint Alphonsus Eagle Health Plaza.
The southbound lane at Milepost 57 was blocked for two and a half hours. ISP is investigating the crash.
