Police identify man who died in I-84 crash near Mountain Home
A 64-year-old Mountain Home man died in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 84 near Mountain Home Friday.
William Dugan was driving west in his 2010 Toyota Tacoma when he crossed the median near milepost 77 and began going the wrong way on the freeway’s eastbound lanes, Idaho State Police say. He struck a 1999 Kenworth semitrailer, which then jackknifed, blocking all eastbound lanes. The other vehicle involved, a Chevrolet pickup truck, swerved to avoid a loose tire that fell off the back of the semi and ran off the road into the median.
The driver of the Chevrolet — James Warren, 44, of Mountain Home — was injured and sent to the hospital. Dugan died on the scene, according to ISP.
The incident is still under investigation, but ISP spokeswoman Teresa Baker said icy roads were a likely factor in the accident.
