Several Downtown streets close in preparation for Idaho Potato Drop

The party starts at 6 p.m. and culminates at midnight New Year's Eve in front of the Statehouse, but some stretches of Downtown streets are already closed and others will close Thursday morning and evening, Boise police said in a news release Wednesday evening.

These roads closed Wednesday: Jefferson Street from 6th Street to 8th Street; Capitol Boulevard between Bannock Street and Jefferson. They will remain closed until 7 a.m. Saturday.

At 10 a.m. Thursday, these additional closures are planned: Bannock from 6th Street to 8th Street; Capitol between Idaho Street and Bannock. Those stretches will reopen at 7 a.m. Friday.

The final closure begins at 5 p.m. Thursday: west lane of 6th between Jefferson and Bannock. This lane will reopen at 7 a.m. Friday.
