Boise weather: Cooler temps, drier skies coming
Snowfall was expected to continue through Christmas Eve, giving way to a cool, mostly cloudy Christmas Day, according to the National Weather Service.
Motorists should watch out for slippery conditions. After some melting of Friday’s snowfall in the Treasure Valley, the Weather Service predicted Friday night's low temperature would drop into the single digits, with a Saturday afternoon high of 20 degrees.
Temperatures are expected to rebound somewhat next week, but highs are still forecast in the 20s, with lows in the teens and mostly cloudy to mostly sunny skies.
The early winter weather has been kind to Bogus Basin. The Boise ski area's website recorded a base depth of five feet Thursday, with a season total snowfall of 99 inches.
Statewide, early snowpack results are promising, too. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, every basin in Idaho has an above-normal snowpack for this time of the year.
