Boise’s winter day shelter to open for homeless families Monday
The City of Boise’s seasonal day shelter, Pioneer Neighborhood Community Center, will open up for homeless families looking to get out of the cold starting Monday.
The shelter, on 500 South Ash Street, provides daytime assistance and lunches to families with pre-school and school-aged children from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Those hours will be extended from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. starting Nov. 30, according to a Boise Parks and Recreation press release.
Besides providing some basic needs assistance, the center also hosts seven computers, books and games, art supplies, television and foosball tables.
The program helped 38 families during the winter months daily last year, according to the release.
If you want to help, the shelter accepts diaper, baby wipes, socks, cash or baby supplies as donations.
