Two Boise teens hospitalized after being struck by an SUV on their way to school

Two teen boys, on their way to school Wednesday morning, were sent to the hospital after an SUV hit them in a crosswalk, according to Boise Police Department.

Officers were called to the scene around 7:15 a.m. A 24-year-old woman driving an SUV had reportedly turned left on Vista Avenue from Targee Street while two boys — 13 and 15 — were crossing the Vista crosswalk. She struck the boys, and one returned home to get a parent. The boys did not suffer life-threatening injuries, but were transported to the hospital, according to BPD.

The driver’s windshield was covered in ice, and that may have been a factor in the accident, police said.

The driver was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, according to BPD.
