‘Big, big hit:’ Driver damages 7 vehicles at Garden City auto dealership
A Garden City auto dealership is working to pick up the pieces after an accident on Sunday morning damaged a number of its vehicles.
A man driving a Dodge Ram truck collided with at least seven parked vehicles at about 4:54 a.m. in a rollover crash at Advantage Auto Sales, located at 4840 W. Chinden Blvd., the Garden City Police Department said in a news release.
Police said the driver was the only person injured. Ada County Paramedics took him to a local hospital for treatment, and the man has been charged with a misdemeanor for alleged inattentive driving, the release said.
Alejandro Montalvan, general manager of Advantage Auto Sales, said police told him the driver was able to climb out through a window and call law enforcement after the crash.
The general manager said the damaged cars were no longer drivable and were “complete losses.” He said one of his light poles was damaged as well.
Advantage Auto Sales is a small, local dealership that’s been in business for the past decade, according to Montalvan.
“It’s a big, big hit to our business here, because it was seven vehicles that are in the front line,” Montalvan said. “Trying to recover this inventory is going to be hard.”
Garden City Police Chief Cory Stambaugh said it was “extremely fortunate” that no one else was hurt or injured.
“Inattentive driving can lead to serious injuries or death, and it’s important to always stay alert and focused when behind the wheel,” he said in the release.
