Ore-Ida frozen Tater Tots part of voluntary recall in 26 states, Idaho included
A voluntary recall is in place for potato products, including Ore-Ida frozen Tater Tots sold to restaurants and other food service channels.
According to the Food and Drug Administration, McCain Foods USA Inc. has initiated a voluntary recall of two frozen potato products because of the potential presence of “clear hard plastic fragments.”
The agency states that a total of about 38,800 cases of tots are impacted by the recall.
Ore-Ida Tater Tots product item number OIF00215A packaged in 30-pound unlabeled poly bags with batch codes 1005479808, 1005477924, 1005478883, 1005480444, 1005480875, 1005481627 and 1005481770 are affected by the recall. Also affected are Sysco Imperial Potato Tater Barrel, item number 1000006067, packaged in 6/5-pound clear poly bags with batch codes 1005482717, 1005483735, 1005484702, 1005485462 and 1005485660.
The recall is in place in 26 states, including Idaho, Washington, Montana and Oregon. The recall was initiated on Dec. 3, and the FDA classified the recall as Class II on Jan. 6. That level of recall indicates that a product might cause health problems, but the chance of serious medical consequences is small.
