Popular Boise River Greenbelt section reopened. What to know
Commuters, runners and more can once again use the section of the Greenbelt through Expo Idaho, Ada County announced Monday.
The quarter-mile pathway from the Boise Riverside RV Park to the Plantation Island Bridge closed in September because of construction as the county works on The Park at Expo. The approximately 50-acre park will take shape on the site of the abandoned Les Bois track and will include a sports area, event space, food trucks and a community plaza, according to previous Statesman reporting.
Ada County expects the park to be completed in late summer of 2026, according to its website.
The concrete path, now “wider, safer and smoother,” according to Ada County, offers views of some big changes in Garden City. Walkers and bikers traversing down the path and a new bridge will see two new pavilions as well as the Athletic Club Boise Stadium, where a new professional soccer team whose name and colors were revealed in 2025 will play. The team’s first games are in March, with the first home game scheduled for April 4.
But the best is yet to come, Ada County said in a news release: “Those views will look a lot more beautiful in spring and summer once the construction is complete and native plants and trees have been planted.”
In the meantime, a 6-foot chain link fence will separate Greenbelt users from the construction. The county asked people to refrain from trying to climb over the fencing because of “the dangers associated with an active construction site.”
