Police seek info after arrest of two suspects in Meridian burglary, car chase

Ada County law enforcement tracked down two suspects after a reported break-in Monday morning and are asking other potential crime victims to come forward as they seek more information about the case.

The Meridian Police Department said in a news release that officers responded to a resident’s call about a man trying to break into the side door of their garage in the 3800 block of West Perugia Street in Meridian. Police saw a person run from the area, get into a vehicle and drive away, according to the release.

The driver refused to stop and “began driving recklessly at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour with no headlights or taillights,” police said. They pursued the vehicle until it reached Kuna, where the situation became too hazardous.

Other law enforcement agencies in Ada County then assisted in a follow-up search. Boise and Garden City police found the vehicle near East 36th and Adams streets in Garden City, and took the two people who exited it into custody. They were booked in the Ada County Jail at about 3:30 a.m., according to online records.

A 28-year-old Colorado man was arrested on a failure to appear warrant from out of state and suspicion of several felonies, inclueding burglary, unlawful possession of a firearm, eluding and possession of controlled substance, according to jail records.

A 26-year-old Colorado woman was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and introduction of contraband into a correctional facility — both felonies — as well as a misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both are set to be arraigned Tuesday at the Ada County Courthouse.

Meridian police asked anyone else near that block who might have been a victim of a crime or might have more information about a crime on Sunday night or Monday morning to call its non-emergency dispatch at 208-377-6790.
