Garden City police investigate playground fire as suspected arson; 2 arrested

UPDATE (Nov. 25, 2025): The Garden City Police arrested two male juveniles in connection with the arson incident. Both have been booked into the Ada County Juvenile Detention Facility, according to an updated press release. One is facing a charge for second-degree arson and the other is facing a charge for aiding in a felony.

Garden City police are investigating an early morning playground fire as suspected arson.

The Garden City Police Department and Boise Fire Department responded to the incident at around 1 a.m. Monday at Pamela J. Beaumont Riverfront Park, finding the playground “engulfed in flames,” police said in a news release. Responders put out the fire, which was estimated to have caused about $100,000 in damage.

Investigators said they believe the fire was human caused and are asking for the community’s assistance. Anyone with information is urged to contact Detective J. Mann at jmann@gardencitypolice.org.
