Thousands expected at FitOne on Saturday. Best to avoid some Boise streets
The city of Boise expects to see thousands of people lace up their sneakers and take the streets Saturday morning for the annual St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital FitOne 5K, 10K and half-marathon.
As usual, several streets downtown will be closed or limited to one lane, so motorists are cautioned to take note.
This year, St. Luke’s said there will be nearly 12,000 participants between all three races. Participants will run or walk throughout several Boise neighborhoods and along the Greenbelt.
From the early morning until about noon, street closures will affect downtown travel, and there will be limited parking. As the final participants pass through the various sections of the race course, crews will take away traffic control barriers and signage, according to a press release.
The annual race is a major fundraiser, with proceeds going toward St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital and other children’s health programs in Idaho.
“FitOne isn’t just about crossing the finish line; it’s about making a difference,” St. Luke’s stated in the release. “The event also encourages everyone to embrace a more active lifestyle, connect with their community, and have fun doing it.”
Street closures and limited parking
Warm Springs Avenue: There will be no on-street parking from Avenue B to the Idaho Botanical Garden from 3 a.m. to 10 a.m. The street will be reduced to one lane, going westbound only, from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.
Boise Greenbelt: The Greenbelt will remain open, but St. Luke’s recommends that people use an alternative route for safety. Both the 10K and half-marathon participants will be on parts of the Greenbelt from approximately 7:45 a.m. to 11 a.m.

- West Front Street to State Street and S. 6th Street to S. 9th Street will be closed from 5 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
- Capitol Boulevard from Front Street to River Street will be closed from 9:15 a.m. to 11 a.m.

- S. 9th Street from River Street to University Drive will be closed from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.
