The Boise Fire Department battled “heavy fire” at a house on the West Bench, forcing the closure of a portion of Cole Road for three hours.

The Boise Police Department asked drivers to avoid Cole between Northview Street and Ustick Road, where it was closed in both directions, the department said on social media at 3:13 p.m. Wednesday. At 6:12 p.m. police said Cole had reopened.

Crews arrived at the single-family home at 2:33 p.m. Wednesday, Boise Fire said on Facebook. At least 17 responding units were at 2711 N. Cole Road, according to the PulsePoint emergency alert system.

Boise Fire said a chimney and roof collapse required firefighters to withdraw and bring the blaze under control from outside the home.

No one was injured, the department said, and the fire is under investigation.
