Ada County coroner identifies body of Riggins man found in Boise canal

The man found in a Boise canal Wednesday morning near West Wainwright Drive and West Fernside Drive was a 64-year-old from Riggins.

The Ada County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased individual Thursday as Richard Kelsey. Time of death was Wednesday at 7:57 a.m., according to the coroner’s release.

Boise Fire Department crews originally located Kelsey submerged in an area of the canal known as North Slough after someone reported seeing a body in the water at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The Boise Police Department said in a news release Thursday that they expect no foul play to be involved in Kelsey’s death; however, they are conducting an ongoing investigation.

The cause and manner of death were not disclosed in the coroner’s release.
