The city has reworked and expanded its three parking zones to improve traffic flow and “optimize space usage,” according to a Monday news release.

While Sunday parking will remain free, Saturday pricing will increase to match weekday rates — from $0.50 per hour to $2 or $3 per hour in the core of the city’s downtown.

The city plans to enforce all downtown parking from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. during the week, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays.

The city said it believes the changes will lead to better use of downtown parking spaces by encouraging short-term parking.
