Male youth dies after motorcycle collides with truck in West Boise

A minor is dead after a motorcycle and vehicle collided in Boise on Thursday morning, police said in a news release.

The Boise Police Department said officers responded to the crash at Fairview Avenue and Mitchell Street shortly before 10 a.m. An initial investigation showed that the motorcyclist was driving “at a very high rate of speed” west on Fairview, according to police.

A truck was heading east on Fairview and turning north on Mitchell, police said in the release, and the motorcyclist crashed into the truck in the intersection, police said.

The male juvenile operating the motorcycle died at the scene, according to the release. The truck’s driver was taken to a local hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening, police said.

Police closed the intersection for several hours while the Violent Crimes Unit and Crash Reconstruction Team investigated, the release said.

Law enforcement said the roads reopened at around 2:15 p.m. Thursday.

The motorcycle rider’s identity will be released by the Ada County Coroner’s Office after next of kin are notified.
