Woman has life-threatening injuries after car crash near Boise Depot

A driver has been hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after an early morning car crash in Boise.

The woman was driving near the Boise Depot shortly before 3 a.m. Tuesday when she crashed into a tree on South Capitol Boulevard, just north of West Crescent Rim Drive, the Boise Police Department said in a news release.

Officers found the woman unresponsive behind the wheel, police spokesperson Haley Williams told the Idaho Statesman.

“Preliminary evidence indicates the driver of the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed, drove over the median, across southbound traffic lanes, and crashed into a tree on the west side of the road,” the release said.

Fire crews extracted the woman from the vehicle and began performing life-saving measures until first responders transported her to a local hospital, according to the release.

Law enforcement closed part of South Capitol Boulevard for about two hours on Tuesday morning.

Police said no other vehicles were involved, and they are investigating the incident.
