The Boise Fire Department is at the scene of an apartment fire off of Harrison Boulevard that has hospitalized one person.
Dozens of emergency personnel responded to Harrison Hills, a three-story complex at the corner of Harrison Boulevard and Hill Road, for a two-alarm fire, according to the Boise Fire Department.
Firefighters and officers with the Boise Police Department arrived to heavy smoke coming from the third floor and immediately started evacuating residents, the fire department said in a social media post.
One of the residents was taken to a local hospital with injuries, but their medical condition was unknown, the department said. There were no other reported injuries. An Idaho Statesman reporter saw several ladders going into a third-floor apartment’s balcony window and going on to the roof of the complex.
The public has been asked to avoid the area as there is heavy traffic congestion and several streets are closed. This includes Harrison Boulevard between West Hill Road and West Dewey Street. Drivers coming from the eastbound land of Hill Road were also unable to drive through Harrison Boulevard toward 16th Street, a Statesman reporter observed.
The Statesman reached out to the Boise Fire Department for more information.
