What happens to garbage service during Christmas week in Boise, Ada County?
Christmas Day brings many store and restaurant closures, plus disruptions to city services. If your trash collection typically takes place on Wednesday or later, Christmas Day will cause delays in the schedule if you live in the Boise area.
Here’s what you need to know.
Trash collection on Wednesday will be delayed a day
Trash collection in Boise and much of Ada County is run by Republic Services and Hardin Sanitation, according to Ada County Landfill’s website. Republic Services trash collection on Wednesday is being delayed by one day, according to the city of Boise website. The delays continue for each scheduled pickup after the holiday through the week.
The Hardin Sanitation website shows its services will be delayed by a day as well.

Other Boise, Ada services closed on Christmas?
Christmas Day is a postal holiday, so mail will not be delivered on Wednesday.
Valley Regional Transit buses are running limited services on Christmas Eve for routes 2, 3, 5, 7, 9, 20 and 29; all routes will run their last trip at 6:45 p.m. The buses are not running on Christmas Day, according to its website.
While most Boise-area city services close during the holidays, emergency services are available.
