The Boise Fire Department is investigating two trash fires found in a downtown Boise alley early Thursday morning.

Around 2:45 a.m., Boise Fire found a commercial dumpster and a residential trash cart on fire in the alley between North 16th and 17th streets, spokesperson Lynsey Amundson said. The fires were about 100 feet apart on opposite sides of the alley, Amundson said.

No one was hurt, and there was no damage to the buildings near the trash receptacles. However, both bins were significantly damaged, Boise Fire said.

The cause of the fires and whether they are related is under investigation, Amundson said. However, evidence “indicates them to be human-caused,” Amundson said.
