The Ada County Coroner’s Office on Wednesday identified the man shot and killed by law enforcement Tuesday evening in Northwest Boise.

Deputies fatally shot a man at about 5:45 p.m. at the Optimist Youth Sports Complex on West Hill Road, the Ada County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. He was armed, did not comply with commands and had made suicidal statements, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The coroner identified the man Wednesday afternoon as Lucas Alleman, 43, of Star. Alleman was pronounced dead at the scene after deputies attempted life-saving measures, according to the Sheriff’s Office, which said he produced a handgun, prompting two deputies to fire their weapons.

The coroner’s report listed cause of death as “gunshot wounds of the neck and torso” and the manner of death as “pending.”

Alleman was pronounced dead at 7:15 p.m., the report said.

The Ada County Sheriff’s Office said he was being sought as a suspect in a felony sex-crimes case, but no charges were filed. The case was still under investigation.

No deputies were injured; the two who fired their weapons were placed on administrative leave per department policy regarding shootings.

The Boise Police Department will lead the Critical Incident Task Force investigation of the shooting, according to the Sheriff’s Office release.
