Update: Fire near Lucky Peak grows to 700 acres near Boise. It was caused by humans
Fire crews continue to battle a wildfire that began Sunday morning near Lucky Peak Lake near Boise.
Fire officials received reports of a fire six miles southeast of the reservoir at 11:20 a.m. Sunday, according to the Boise District of the Bureau of Land Management’s Facebook page. Dubbed the Three Point Fire, it had grown to 762 acres by Monday morning, said Jared Jablonski, Bureau of Land Management fire spokesperson.
It was contained — meaning a line was created around its perimeter to stop the spread — by 8 p.m. Sunday, and crews hope to have the fire out by 6 p.m. Monday.
“Crews are going to be mopping up hot spots and monitoring throughout the day today,” Jablonski told the Idaho Statesman by phone.
Bureau of Land Management investigators determined the wildfire was started by humans, though they are still investigating the specific cause.
“Just because fall started, doesn’t mean that fire season is over,” Jablonski said. “So please still be cautious out there when you’re recreating or using anything that can start a fire.”
The fire response team includes five engines, two dozers, two large air tankers, two single-engine air tankers, a water tender, a helicopter and an air attack aircraft.
The bureau asked drivers to avoid Blacks Creek Road if possible and be prepared for delays if heading that way.
