A structure fire burning east of Eagle Road killed one cat and caused “significant damages” to two houses on Saturday morning, according to the Boise Fire Department.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, Boise Fire said in a Facebook post. No humans were hurt — in part, because a neighbor saw the fire and realized occupants in one of the houses were still inside. The neighbor warned them, giving them enough time to get out.

“We send our heartfelt condolences to the families for the loss of their pet and damage to their homes,” the Boise Fire Department said.

Both Boise and Meridian fire responded. A Boise Fire Department spokesperson was not immediately able to answer questions about the fire.
