The Little Luke’s child-care facility was closed Friday and will be Monday as well as officials assess repairs that will be needed after a car crashed into the east side of the building on Thursday afternoon.

Police said a driver suffered a medical emergency, drove through a fence and struck the building. No one inside or near the building was hurt, police and St. Luke’s officials said, though the driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

“Fortunately, no injuries were reported among children or staff on site,” a St. Luke’s spokesperson said in an email. “The building suffered significant damage .... Impacts range from flooding to structural damage to that part of the building. Further damages are being assessed.”

The car hit the east wall of the building, the spokesperson said.

The Treasure Valley Family YMCA runs the child care at Little Luke’s. St. Luke’s said the Y was in touch with all of the affected families at the center. A YMCA spokesperson said in an email that 32 children were on site when the crash happened. The facility serves about 100 kids.

Fort Street was closed for a couple of hours after the crash Thursday, police said.
