A 6-year-old who was struck by a vehicle while riding his bike in Boise earlier this month has died from his injuries.

The Ada County Coroner’s Office identified the boy as James Chaffin in a news release Tuesday. Chaffin was hit at about 7:54 p.m. April 15 near East Gowen Road and East Grand Forest Drive.

He was pronounced dead from blunt force head injuries four days later at 7:20 p.m. Friday at St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center in Boise, the news release said. The coroner said life-saving measures were unsuccessful. Chaffin’s manner of death was ruled an accident.

The Ada County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.
