Mountain Home woman dead after she was hit by a pickup on a highway southeast of Boise

A pedestrian who police say was standing on a highway died when a pickup truck struck her west of Mountain Home in Elmore County.

A 71-year-old woman from Grand View was driving a 2008 Nissan Titan north on State Highway 67 when she hit a 55-year-old woman who was standing in the traffic lane near Milepost 7 at about 5:46 p.m. Tuesday, according to an Idaho State Police news release.

The pedestrian, who was from Mountain Home, died from her injuries at the scene, police said. Her name has not been released.

The highway’s lanes were blocked for about three hours after the collision to allow “emergency responders to assist those involved and clear the scene,” according to police.

Police said they were continuing to investigate.
