Boise schools briefly shelter in place, delay dismissals as police respond to disturbance
Three Boise schools were briefly asked to shelter in place Friday afternoon because of nearby police activity, according to Boise police and the Boise School District.
Timberline High School and Liberty and White Pine elementary schools were asked to shelter in place while the Boise Police Department responded to a neighborhood off of Apple Street, the school district and Boise police said. The shelter in place at all three schools was lifted at around 3:15 p.m., the district said on X, formally known as Twitter.
Dan Hollar, a spokesperson for the Boise School District, told the Idaho Statesman by email that all of the students and staff were safe.
Boise officers were responding to an armed, suicidal individual, police spokesperson Haley Williams told the Statesman. Williams said the female individual died by suicide before police arrived.
All three of the schools’ dismissals were delayed, the school district said on X.
