Parts of Orchard Street will be closed for weeks as Boise replaces aging sewer line
A busy Boise roadway will see rolling closures as city officials update a 60-year-old sewer pipe with infrastructure intended to last 100 years, the city announced in a news release Friday.
Closures on Orchard Street will begin Monday with a partial closure between Overland Road and Camas Street. The area will still be open to residents and for business access. That closure is expected to last the full duration of the project, from Aug. 28 to Nov. 3.
From Sept. 4 to 15, Orchard will be fully closed from Kootenai to Camas streets. West Edson and South Pond streets will also be affected.
The following week, Orchard will be closed from West Clark Street to West Edson, and Kootenai street will be closed west of Orchard until Hilton Street. That closure is expected to end Sept. 22.
From Sept. 25 to Oct. 6, Orchard will be closed from the H&R Block location north of the Orchard/Overland intersection to Kootenai Street. West Clark Street will be closed between Orchard and Stanley streets. The news release said the Orchard/Clark entrance to the Hillcrest Shopping Center will also be closed.
Between Oct. 9 and 20, the project will close Orchard Street from Overland Road to West Clark Street, with a westbound lane closure impacting Overland.
From Oct. 23 to 27, the eastbound lane of Overland will be closed near the Orchard intersection. Construction will move south of the intersection, stretching from Overland to Hillcrest Drive.
The project is expected to wrap up the week of Oct. 30 through Nov. 3, when Overland will be closed to eastbound traffic between Orchard and Phillippi streets.
