Firefighters worked into late Saturday night to extinguish a fire in southwest Boise.

The Boise Fire Department extinguished the blaze at the south end of South Maple Grove Road, the department tweeted. The emergency response included three fire engines, one fire truck and two water tenders.

The fire burned more than 200 tons of hay south of West Lake Hazel Road. No one reported injuries and no structures were harmed, according to the department.

The department warned in the post that smoke could linger in the area “for the next few days as crews work to mitigate the smoldering hay.”

The Fire Department said it was investigating how the fire started.
