Boise pedestrian who died in vehicle collision identified by coroner. She was 54
A Boise woman died at a local hospital after a vehicle struck her last week, the Ada County Coroner’s Office said.
Korena Baker, 54, died due to blunt force injuries at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise on Wednesday after “life-saving measures” were unsuccessful, according to a news release from the coroner’s office. Baker was transported to the hospital after a vehicle struck her at the intersection of Vallejo Road and Talon Lane.
Baker was walking on the north side of Vallejo Road when a 27-year-old Boise man, who was driving east toward South Cole Road, lost control of his car, crossed into the other lane and hit Baker, Ada County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Patrick Orr told the Idaho Statesman.
Orr in an email wrote that Baker “was thrown into the ground and into a nearby fence.” He said the force of the impact was “severe.” Individuals in the area who witnessed the collision began first aid on Baker before authorities arrived at the scene, Orr said.
The driver stayed at the scene of the crash, and deputies were able to interview him and gather evidence. Orr said the crash is still under “active investigation,” and no charges or citations have been filed as of Friday morning.
