The Doubletapp Fire between Boise and Mountain Home is estimated to be about 100 acres in size.

The Bureau of Land Management updated progress on a grass and brush fire southeast of Boise on Monday evening and said crews expected to have the blaze contained by 8 p.m.

The Doubletapp Fire is located in between Boise and Mountain Home, off of Interstate 84 and close to Simco Road, according to tweets from BLM Idaho. I-84 was closed for a while but had reopened by 7 p.m., BLM said in a tweet.

The Bureau of Land Management said it sent four fire engines, two fire dozers, a water tender and three large air tankers to battle the fire, which doubled from about 100 to 200 acres from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. BLM said on Twitter that crews were “in the process of securing the perimeter” and expected to have containment by 8 p.m., with control of the fire coming sometime tomorrow.

Authorities warned people driving in the area, including on I-84, to proceed with caution and be alert for further traffic delays.
