Wildfire starts near Center for Birds of Prey on 4th of July. What we know
A wildfire of about 60 acres was reported in South Boise on the Fourth of July.
The fire began around 8:15 p.m. Monday near Talon Lane, close to the Peregrine Fund’s World Center For Birds of Prey.
The fire was under control by 10 p.m., Boise Fire Dispatch told the Idaho Statesman.
The U.S. Bureau of Land Management responded to the fire in conjunction with the Boise Fire Department and sent two engines and a bulldozer to assist. Boise Fire also responded with two brush rigs. Meridian Fire responded with a third brush rig.
The fire burned grass and sagebrush, according to Jared Jablonski, a spokesperson for the BLM’s Boise District.
“I haven’t specifically heard of any evacuations yet, but I know Boise city has set up structural protection with some of their engines,” Jablonski told the Statesman.
