Southwest Boise home destroyed in fire; no people injured, but 5 cats killed

Fire crews responded to a Southwest Boise house fire Tuesday morning. Most of the interior of the home was destroyed.

A call about a fire on South Mistyglen Avenue came in at 7:07 a.m., according to Boise Police Department dispatch.

Four fire engines, two fire trucks and a number of Ada County emergency service vehicles responded, according to Boise Fire Battalion Chief John Peugh. The first firefighters to arrive encountered heavy fire at the rear of the home, the Boise Fire Dept. reported. Crews extinguished the fire in about 20 to 25 minutes.

No one was in the house at the time of the fire, but five cats were killed.

Peugh said the cause of the fire is still unknown. Boise Fire is continuing to investigate.
