Get out your shovels: Boise just got hit with snow, and forecast calls for more
Boise woke up Tuesday to its first big snow shower of the season. The city was under a winter weather advisory, with scattered snow showers expected throughout the day.
Early Tuesday morning, rain changed to snow. The National Weather Service reported that the back edge of the show shower was moving into the Lower Treasure Valley around 9 a.m. The snow was expected to stop by around 10 a.m.
Main roads were wet with some slick spots. Side roads may have snow accumulation. The Meridian Police Department went on social media to warn drivers to “slow down and leave more distance between you and the car in front of you.”
Additional snowfall was expected Tuesday afternoon, and on and off until Thursday. Accumulations of 1 to 3 inches were possible at lower elevations, with 6 to 18 inches of fluffy snow expected in the mountains by the time the storm ends, the National Weather Service reported.
Bogus Basin reported 3 inches of fresh snow fell overnight, with another 1 to 3 inches coming.
