UPDATE: Woman injured in East Boise house fire dies, home declared a total loss

An 80-year-old woman rescued from a Boise house fire Friday night has died.

She was initially transported to a local hospital with burns and later transferred to a medical facility in Utah where she passed away.

The Boise Fire Department received a call about a fire with a possible victim on the 3000 block of Kingsland Way at 7:25 p.m. Friday. Two women were inside the home, according to the Boise Fire Department. The second victim, who is 53, suffered smoke inhalation but did not require a trip to the hospital.

The fire was under control in approximately 20 minutes, officials reported, but the house is a total loss. The Burnout Fund, a nonprofit that provides short-term assistance to families whose homes are destroyed by fire, will be assisting the remaining victim.

The fire was caused by smoking while using medical oxygen, according to a Tweet by Boise Fire.
