Vehicle crashes through wall of Boise school. ‘Appears to be accidental.’
A truck crashed through the wall of a school in Boise on Tuesday evening.
The crash occurred at Pepper Ridge Elementary, which is at 2252 S. Sumpter Way in southwest Boise. The school is part of the West Ada School District.
The driver went to the hospital “with what appear to be minor injuries,” the Boise Fire Department tweeted.
“Appears to be accidental,” the department added in a follow-up tweet.
The driver was a male teen, Boise Fire spokeswoman Char Jackson said in an email. There were other occupants of the truck but they weren’t injured, she said.
The truck went all the way into a classroom, Jackson said.
“Our crews shored up the wall because there was structural damage,” she said.
The classroom is used to teach health, West Ada spokesman Eric Exline said in an email. School was still in session Wednesday, he said.
Exline provided the email sent by Principal Matt Mura to Pepper Ridge parents about the incident.
“We are emailing to let you know that at approximately 6:30 pm on Tuesday 2/11 there was an incident at Pepper Ridge in which a truck crashed through the side of our building facing Hollandale Rd. Thankfully no one was seriously injured as a result of this accident. The impact of the crash affected one room of the building (health room),” the email read.
“First responders are currently on scene. District contractors will soon be on site to check and secure the building. School is scheduled to take place tomorrow as planned. Additional updates will be sent out as needed.”
