The Boise Fire Department responded around 11:50 a.m. Tuesday to a fire that damaged five apartment units at a complex in the 500 block of Garfield Street.

The cause of the fire is unknown, but firefighters believe it may have started in a shed attached to the building, according to Boise Fire Capt. Jeff Root. The apartments were unoccupied when firefighters arrived, and one firefighter sustained a minor leg injury.

A car parked nearby was destroyed in the blaze.

The department requested the assistance of the Red Cross and the Boise Burnout Fund for the tenants who may be displaced.
