California woman accused of battering Boise hospital workers

A 51-year-old woman accused of poking, pushing and/or punching three health care workers at a Boise hospital Sunday was arrrested and booked into the Ada County Jail, according to Boise police and court records.

Lori Anne Parentsmith of Mountain View, Calif., has been charged with two counts of felony battery against healthcare workers and one count of resisting and obstructing a police officer.

Police were called to the hospital at 1:38 a.m. for a report of a problem subject.

Witnesses told police that Parentsmith became violent when hospital staff began attending to injuries she is believed to have suffered in a fall. She appeared to be intoxicated, police said.

In her jail booking photo, Parentsmith has a black eye. She had that before she arrived at the hospital, police told the Statesman.

Parentsmith was booked into the jail at 2:28 a.m. Sunday. She has since been released on $25,000 bond, according to jail and court records. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. June 12.
