One dead in two-vehicle crash near Nampa

A California woman died early Sunday after her car was struck in a Canyon County intersection when she failed to yield to cross traffic, according to an Idaho State Police press release.

Charlotte Dawson, 72, of Ridgecrest, Calif., was westbound on Locust Lane and had stopped at the intersection of Locust and Robinson Boulevard around 8:15 a.m. on Sunday, ISP said. Dawson proceeded through the crossing but failed to yield to cross traffic, according to the release. Her vehicle was struck by a 2005 Dodge 1500 pickup truck driven by 18-year-old Camber Palmer, of Kuna.

According to police, Dawson died of injuries at the scene. Her passenger was taken to Saint Alphonsus in Boise.

Police say all involved were wearing seat belts. The crash is being investigated by ISP.
