Crash near New Meadows downs power pole, injures two
A one-car crash near New Meadows early Tuesday blocked a section of U.S. 95 for several hours, Idaho State Police report.
The crash was reported about 6 a.m. at milepost 170. ISP reports that Ryan Granlund, 32, of Ephrata, Wash., was headed north in a Dodge pickup truck when he fell asleep and the truck drifted across the southbound lanes, off the roadway and into a power pole.
The power pole snapped and blocked both lanes of the highway with live wires, ISP reports.
Granlund and his passenger, Lasean Burdue-Troxclair, 25, of Ephrata were able to get themselves out of the vehicle and were taken to St. Luke's McCall Medical Center by ambulance, according to a news release.
Both the northbound and southbound lanes were blocked for three hours, and one lane remained closed until early afternoon.
