Teen dies in rollover crash after graduation party
A 17-year-old from Meridian who had just graduated died Sunday morning in a rollover crash near Kuna, according to an Ada County Sheriff’s Office release.
Two passengers were injured in the crash: a 15-year-old boy was badly hurt and taken to a local hospital via air ambulance. A 16-year-old boy was also hospitalized for “what appear to be non life-threatening injuries,” according to ACSO.
The three were driving in a truck in the desert east of the Swan Falls dam around 5 a.m. after leaving what officials said was a nearby graduation party. The 17-year-old driver lost control of the pickup going around a corner near the intersection of Swan Falls and Moore roads, ACSO said in the release.
Both the driver and one passenger were ejected from the vehicle during the rollover. Deputies said they believe none of the occupants were wearing seatbelts.
ACSO officials are still investigating the cause of the crash and have not released the identity of the driver or the conditions of the passengers.
